In Him We Live: Embracing God's Kingdom Purpose

Have you ever felt like there's something more to life - a greater purpose beyond your daily routine? This sense of a larger reality is not unlike two babies in the womb pondering what lies beyond their current existence. Just as those unborn children can't fully comprehend the world awaiting them, we too often struggle to grasp the vastness of God's kingdom and our role within it.

The truth is, we live and move and have our being in God. Every breath, every heartbeat, every moment of our existence is sustained by Him. As the Apostle Paul boldly declared on Mars Hill in Athens, "For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'" (Acts 17:28)

This profound reality should transform how we view every aspect of our lives. When we truly recognize that we're part of something far bigger than ourselves, our priorities shift dramatically. No longer content with merely existing, we're called to seek first the kingdom of God and leverage everything we have for His glory.

Consider for a moment: Why did God give you the ability to make friends? Is it solely for your own enjoyment, or could it be a divine opportunity to introduce others to Jesus? The talents, resources, and influence you possess - are they meant only for personal gain, or has God entrusted them to you for kingdom purposes?

Too often, we compartmentalize our faith, treating Jesus like a lucky charm or a bobblehead on our dashboard. But when we have a genuine revelation of who He is and what He's done for us, it changes everything. Suddenly, we're willing to press through our own desires and comfort to conform our lives to Christ.

This doesn't mean instant perfection. As the Apostle Paul candidly admitted, we often struggle to do the good we want and avoid the evil we don't want. But it does mean a passionate pursuit of Jesus above all else. It means recognizing that without Him, we can do nothing, but through Him, we can do all things.

So what would happen if we dared to live fully in God's grace and calling? What if we stopped making excuses about our inadequacies and instead declared, like the young D.L. Moody, "The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to Him. By God's help, I aim to be that man."

Imagine teachers entering their classrooms not just to impart knowledge, but filled with the Holy Spirit, bringing revival. Picture business leaders using their influence not merely for profit, but to shape generations for Christ. Envision parents leveraging every moment to speak life and truth into their children, unapologetically standing firm on God's Word.

This kingdom-focused living isn't reserved for a select few. God has uniquely gifted and positioned each of us for His purposes. Whether you're a student, a retiree, battling illness, or at the peak of your career - your life matters immensely in God's grand design.

Even in our weakness and brokenness, God's glory can shine through. If you're sick, seek the Lord for healing, but also ask how your journey can point others to Christ. If you're blessed with health and prosperity, seek ways to use those gifts to advance God's kingdom.

We must shake off the lies that have held us back - whispers of inadequacy, fear of embarrassment, or the weight of past failures. God declares you are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. He has chosen you, anointed you, and placed His purpose on your life.

It's time to be bold. Like Paul standing before the philosophers on Mars Hill, we're called to unapologetically declare the truth of Jesus Christ. This doesn't mean being unkind or unloving, but it does require courage to speak up, even when it's uncomfortable.

Remember Jesus' words in the Lord's Prayer: "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." We're not just passive observers waiting for God's kingdom - we're active participants in bringing it to fruition here and now.

So, what's holding you back? Is there a talent you've been hesitant to use for God's glory? A calling you've resisted out of fear or insecurity? It's time to skip the drama of self-doubt and step boldly into what God has for you.

Fathers, even if you don't feel qualified, act like the father God has called you to be. Married couples, live out your commitment even when feelings falter. Christians struggling with doubt, keep following Jesus even when tired - He will never leave or forsake you.

The kingdom of God is near, and Jesus is calling you to play your unique part. You haven't even begun to see what God wants to do in and through you. So rise up, Church! Shake off the lies, embrace your identity in Christ, and run with perseverance the race set before you.

Let's pray together:

"Father, we seek first Your kingdom above all else. Strip away every piece of baggage that holds us back. Break off the lies we've believed about ourselves. Help us to walk - no, to run - in the calling and anointing You've placed on our lives. We declare Jesus over our families, our cities, our nation. Do Your mighty work in us and through us. In Christ's name, Amen."

As you go about your week, remember: In Him, we truly live and move and have our being. Let every breath, every interaction, every decision be infused with this kingdom perspective. God has great things in store - will you dare to believe it and step out in faith?
