Inside Israel: Pathway Church Welcomes Heroes

A Heartfelt Morning of Unity and Support

Pathway Church had the distinct honor recently of hosting some incredible guests who brought with them tales of courage, resilience, and hope amidst adversity. The Gepner family from Israel, along with notable friends such as Pastor Todd Lamphere and Uri Steinberg, stood before our congregation and opened their hearts.

From Israel to Alabama: A Long Journey

The morning began with a warm welcome from Pastor Travis Johnson, expressing immense gratitude for the Holy Spirit's presence and for the Pathway Church family. With uplifting words and genuine smiles, everyone was encouraged to welcome the Gepner family from Israel who had journeyed all the way to our 'sweet home' Alabama.

A Testimony of Survival and Sacrifice

Dr. Gepner, a military hero and a symbol of bravery, recounted the harrowing events of October 7th. He described how their village was attacked by Hamas terrorists, resulting in loss and destruction. Despite overwhelming odds and limited resources, including facing heavily armed terrorists with only four rifles and a rock, Dr. Gepner and his brother, Elad, fought valiantly to protect their community. The village narrowly escaped a fate similar to others thanks to a miraculous closing of their village gate just in time.

A Mother's Ordeal and Children’s Resilience

Michal, Dr. Gepner’s wife, shared her terrifying experience of being in a safe room with their children for 27 hours, shielding them from the horrific realities outside. Their daughter, Ella, tenderly spoke about the trauma of knowing her friends had been kidnapped and her fears during those dark hours. The emotional toll on every family member was palpable as they spoke.

The Power of Community and Support

Their narratives illustrated the profound sense of unity and the strength they derived from their community during these arduous times. The love and courage shown by the Gepners exemplify the resilience of the human spirit in the face of insurmountable challenges.

Uri Steinberg eloquently highlighted the significance of Jewish-Christian relations, reminding us of the historical animosity and how today marks a significant shift towards unity and mutual support. The palpable solidarity between Pathway Church and the Gepner family was a heartwarming testament to this.

Standing With Israel: Pathway Church’s Commitment

The event reached its zenith as Pastor Travis Johnson underscored the importance of standing with Israel and supporting them through these times. The church committed to constructing a sports complex in Ein Absor, fostering a semblance of normalcy and joy for the children who have endured so much.

A Call to Action

In closing, Pathway Church extended an invitation to the congregation to visit Israel in 2025, encouraging them to connect deeper with their mission and spirit. The morning concluded with prayers for peace, protection, and prosperity for Israel, affirming the church’s staunch support and unwavering faith in a united future.

The visit from the Gepner family and friends was more than an event; it was a poignant reminder of the humanity that binds us all, the beauty of community, and the power of faith in overcoming the darkest of times. Pathway Church remains committed to standing with Israel, embodying the teachings of love, support, and unwavering faith.
